Last week, I attended a series of meetings with leading healthcare distributors in the UAE, discussing trends and needs in not just the UAE market but also wider GCC. There is huge demand for scar management solutions and advanced wound care products for cosmetic surgery and diabetic patients in the region.
Interestingly, demand orders are driven by both clinicians and patients. With both clinicians and patients being intertwined, healthcare distributors rely on getting products sampled by clinicians who then await approval of use from patients before orders are placed with distributors.
With the UAE healthcare industry expected to grow by 8.5% between 2019 – 2023, regulations and procedures to support industry growth are being introduced across the Emirates, including implementing a shorter lead time for product classification and registration.
