In February 2018, Gulfood Exhibition welcomed a delegation of UK companies, most of which arrived with the Department for International Trade as part of the #NorthernPowerhouse initiative. As ever, the BCB was on hand to facilitate the visit and organised talks from local partners, store visits, meet the buyer meetings, and with introductions at the event itself.
This year’s event attracted more than 100,000 visitors and hosted more than 5,000 exhibitors. The UK contingent consisted primarily of manufacturers supplying into retail and food service. You can find the complete list of #NorthernPowerhouse companies at the end of this article.
We’d like to thank Mohammed Yusuf from NMC Trading, Bruce Woolner from Country Hill International, and Sayed Essam Sharaf Al Hashimi, representing Dubai Municipality, for taking time out of their busy schedules to brief the delegation on the local food and drink industry. Thanks also go to the local teams who helped the delegation make sense of what is available on the shelves of the UAE’s supermarkets including Carrefour, Spinneys, Lulu, Al Maya and Choithrams.
