Our team was at the launch of the Dubai Design Week at Urban Majlis – a quarterly platform organized by the Design and Fashion Council for industry discussions. In attendance at the launch were key industry figures from Dubai Design Days, D3, Dubai Design and Fashion Council, Association of Professional Interior Design in UAE, Downtown Design fair and Dubai Culture.
The Dubai Design Week is a 5 day umbrella event which is set to take place from the 26th to 31st of October. The launch announced that the Design Week will:
-See reciprocal partnerships with other international design weeks
-Conduct workshops and activities to engage the local community
-Organise city-wide events and installations in public spaces
-Have the Downtown Design fair at the heart of its programme
-Downtown Design will move to D3 this year
-Showcase a themed collection of design exhibitions inspired by the concept ‘The Element of Play’
-Designers from each country will reinterpret traditional games in pavilions designed by the Emirati architecture firm Loci
The BCB is speaking to the Director of Downtown Design, Rue Kothari, about bringing more British Brands to the fair in the coming years.
