BCB January Newsletter: Expo, Vaccines…And Chocolate

26 Jan, 2021

Good Morning

Whilst the new year has obviously started under similar clouds to the last one’s close, in the UAE we’re all looking forward to this being the year of the Expo. A couple of the team visited the site last week to see the opening of the thematic Sustainability Pavilion (known as ‘Terra’) and we are hugely excited by what we saw there. Roll on October!

Whilst the UAE is ostensibly still open for business and we’ve already had a number of business visitors from the UK here this month, we always recommend that you’re fully aware of the latest FCDO advice on travel – see United Arab Emirates travel advice – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk). Things can & do change quickly, so it’s important to be apprised of developments at both ends.

With vaccine efforts ramping up significantly – the UAE is also amongst the leading countries for getting the first dosage out – we are asking our clients and wider network for your input on how vaccination progress might impact your business and exporting activities. Please can I ask for a couple of minutes of your time to complete our survey on this here.

We also highlight below the new Dubai Global Connect trade hub that’s just been launched; regulatory news on local PPE requirements and, for the January dieters, provide an update on the UAE’s chocolate market.

Regards

Joe
