BCB June: let’s get digital

30 Jun, 2020

Good Morning

Whilst it’s good to share the positive news that physical travel to and from the UAE is being restarted, with the major airlines resuming some regular passenger services with the UK in July, this month our focus is on how things have progressed in terms of digital connectivity.

Prior to CV19, we’d always advised against doing digital meetings, missions & engagements in the UAE and wider Middle East as it simply wasn’t an accepted medium for most local companies and tended to result in disappointing outcomes…if the meetings even happened at all. This has all changed over the last few months with Zoom & Teams as commonplace here as in the UK and we’ve been busy organising digital engagements between UK exporters and prospective buyers in the region to great effect.

We’re also looking at arranging larger scale virtual missions in the autumn for groups of British companies who would otherwise have attended the postponed ‘Big 5’ construction trade show. This whole tor is rushing headlong into the digital era, and CV19 is acting as a positive catalyst in this regard.

We are working on creating a more developed suite of services based on ‘Trade Without Travel’ in the coming weeks and will update you further, but for now the message is that the UAE is opening up for international business again and, if you can’t make it in person, the BCB can support you with remote engagement and meetings just as we can with physical introductions.

Wishing you a good summer.

Regards
Joe
