BCB’s May Newsletter: trade licences, visas and Emiritisation

24 May, 2023

Good Morning

Regular followers of our monthly updates would be aware that the regulatory environment in the UAE is very dynamic. Rules, laws and requirements change by the month as the country looks to keep itself current.

To help keep you current, we have started a ’10 things you need to know about doing business in the UAE’ series which highlights some of the key issues and requirements for you to be aware of doing business with, or within, the UAE.

This month we start with the essential Trade Licence…so often the conversation starting point when a UK firm comes to us, having being asked by their client’s procurement department to show evidence of one in order to complete the contract.

We also cover the myriad visa options available here and, with a deadline looming in June for compliance, we shine a light on Emiratisation – the requirement for private sector firms with more than 50 people to have UAE nationals on their workforce.

And, spoiler alert, next month sees the introduction of Corporate Income Tax in the UAE, so you can guess what we’ll be covering then!

As ever, if you need help to better understand any of these issues, please get in touch.

Regards
Joe
