We met with Al Maya (www.almaya.ae) in May to look at how we could collaborate on boosting the share of UK food & drink products on their shelves. They identified their primary interest to be in areas such as confectionery, snacking products, organic food products, soft drinks & long-life fruit juices, yoghurts & milk.
As a result, we arranged for 16 British food & drink manufacturers to meet with Al Maya at the UK offices in June and we understand that almost half of the discussions have resulted in positive developments with Al Maya taking on the UK brands for the first time for sale in their 40+ UAE stores. Al Maya have already placed orders with 7 of the companies and are in discussion with another 3.
