PPE in the UAE – New National System for Suppliers and Manufacturers

05 Jan, 2021

The UAE’s Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) has developed a new national system for personal protective equipment (PPE) in collaboration with its government and private-sector partners.

Manufacturers and suppliers are required to obtain the UAE Certificate of Conformity before placing products in the UAE market.

The system outlines technical specifications for the manufacture of face masks, protective and medical gloves, eye shields, medical clothing, chemical sterilisers, disinfectants and other products that are in line with international best practices.

With the system set to be operational by the first quarter of 2021, UK firms can learn more about the process of obtaining a Certificate of Conformity through Emirates Authority For Standardization & Metrology (ESMA) here – to-the-health-and-safety-requiremen.aspx
