Mall Of The Emirates: One Of The UAE’s Renowned Landmarks

04 Aug, 2015 - UAE Life & Economy

The Mall of the Emirates (MoE) is one of the UAE’s best known landmarks and tourist destinations. With annual footfall of 41.5 million and an expansion project underway to add among other things, 900 more car park spaces to the 7,000 that already exist, MOE is an exciting option for almost any retailer. The mall itself was, at the time of construction, the largest outside north America (although a mall in China disagrees). It has since lost that record to Dubai Mall, which is a fifteen minute drive away.

MoE is famous because of its indoor ski slope: it is possible to move from 50 degrees to sub zero in a moment in Dubai! Dubai is known regionally for its shopping and the high-end Fashion Dome in MOE does not disappoint. Still, in each mall in the UAE a supermarket anchor store is present and in the case of MOE it’s a Carrefour (a French chain similar to a Tesco). This means that MOE is visited both by those looking for Gucci handbags and residents doing their weekly grocery shopping in equal measure.

Mall of Emirates’ catchment area stretches right down Sheikh Zayed Road to Abu Dhabi.  It is more than a mall, it is almost a community in its own right.
