Dubai Design Week – Begins 26th October

20 Oct, 2015 - UAE Life & Economy

Dubai Design Week sees its second iteration in 2015. Supported by the Dubai Design and Fashion Council and the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, the week aims to highlight the creativity of young Arab designers. Six country pavilions will be displaying work from the region, naturally one of the pavilions will be the UAE’s.

Whilst the UAE as a country is in its forties (it was formed in 1971), the region’s cultural heritage dates back centuries. Dubai itself may appear be full of tall steel and glass buildings, but there are subtle hints of Arabian design in many of them. this is even more evident in both Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. And, as a company looking to expand to the region this is a very important consideration.

With Emiratis comprising just 15-20% of the UAE’s population, it is understandable that foreign cultural influences are absorbed – some are well established. So when events like Dubai Design Week occur, the UAE government works to promote local traditions and culture so as to maintain its heritage; Emirati participants (and regional Arabs too) are very well supported.

Whilst you are not able to exhibit at an event like this, the people you will meet are exactly the type of people you should meet if UAE business success is your goal.
